Fun with cousins

The first night they had a big slumber party and watched movies...they don't look so thrilled, but they were.
Jane and Gabby did everything together. I am so glad she put up with Jane as well as she did.

All the cousins that were there playing together.

The inching worm

This is what Sadie has been doing over the last weeks. I was sure it would turn into a crawl, but I believe she has decided that this is the best way to get around. It seems much harder than a crawl, it is like she is doing a dozen push ups in a row. We keep saying, "maybe by Thanksgiving she will be doing it right".

Groceries

Sorry I didn't take any pictures this week but I did a really cool thing. For the first time in my life I planned out a full weeks of meals and groceries. I usually head to the grocery store on a daily basis... it insures that we get out of the house everyday if nothing else. Well, it is getting more difficult to find time to go, because I love the girls nap times and am not willing to give them up. So with a huge list of groceries I got online to Vons.com and VERY easily shopped for my groceries. It was 10,000 times more convenient than actual grocery shopping (less than 5 minutes). The first time you do it there is no delivery charge. With my order the charge would have been only $6.95. Totally worth it if you ask me. I end up spending that much anyway on treats for Jane during the grocery trip to keep her happy (kidding, sorta). So when the guy delivered it they did an amazing job, even with the produce. Anytime I can I will be an online grocery shopper!

Trunk or treat

For those of you who do not know, every year we do a trunk or treat in the church parking lot. The kids go from decorated trunk to trunk getting candy. It is a real safe way for them to have fun. I must admit I am not very good at Halloween. I love all the fun things associated with it, but I get anxiety about finding just the right costume, or getting creatively impressive. Plus, it's not nearly as fun for us to dress up as it was when we were single. Luckily, my sister Emily's mother in law Kathy has all those creative wonderful ideas just flowing and flowing. She made these costumes for Emily's girls years ago, and she sent them to me. So I can't take the credit for how cute they look (at least not the costumes).
She is an angel. Can you believe how great this costume is? Kathy is amazing, I think she has a website, which I will post a little later after I check to see what it is.

My Hippie, Angel, and Piglet
Sadie felt seriously inconvenienced by the whole thing. I will post more after actual Halloween pics are taken.

Goodbye 20's

So I have turned the big 3 0 ! There really isn't much else to say about that, but it is big news that is worth sharing. I am right where I wanted to be for this event. I have 2 awesome kids and am married to the perfect guy for me! So, cheers to 30 years. The best part is the gift I got which I can share with all of you. I got a fancy new camera! A Canon EOS... the kind with a long detachable lens. I haven't posted any pictures with it because I have a lot to learn about how to use it. But, look forward to some beautiful clear pictures in the future.
Grandpa Joe gets Jane to warm up to him by keeping m&m's in his shirt pocket.
Getting older, 7 months now.

favorite thing

I am convinced that every child has a security item, or a favorite thing of some sort. Jane's is her silky that my cousin Lisa made for her. She sleeps, naps, plays, rides in cars, and strollers, basically has to take it everywhere. She gets quite upset when I have to take it away to wash it. There have been times where we have wondered what would happen if it got lost. How would Jane react? We were sure she would be devasted. We have also been playing hide and seek with her. It is her favorite game along with duck duck goose. (Yeah it is lame when you only play it with 2 or 3 people) The other night after a game of hide and seek I saw Jane lugging around her blanket, which was not unusual, but I usually pay attention where she leaves it so I can retrieve it for bed time. This one particular night I asked Todd to go downstairs and get the blankie. He searched but did not find it. So I went downstairs with confidence that as the ever vigilant mother that I could find it easily. Not so! We looked and looked. Finally we had to put Jane to bed without her silky. Todd was so bothered by the fact that we had just seen her before bed time lugging that thing around, that he could not sleep. He had to find it. After a combined 30 minutes of searching I had given up and gone up to bed. Todd excitedly called upstairs that I had to come and see this! I came down to Todd who had found the blankie playing hide and seek...in the bathroom garbage can.
